High School Shooting Kills Student in Maryland
The injured student received emergency medical treatment and was rushed to a nearby medical facility. "The victim has been transported to an area hospital and is currently in stable condition," the police said on the US social media company X's platform.
Law enforcement confirmed one individual remains detained in connection with the violence at Thomas S. Wootton High School, according to the statement.
School officials initiated lockdown protocols immediately following the shooting, police confirmed. The campus is situated in Rockville, approximately 20 miles (32 kilometers) north of Washington, DC.
