MARYLAND TRANSIT ADMINISTRATION EXPANDS BUS SERVICE TO TRADEPOINT ATLANTIC JOB CENTER
BALTIMORE, MD (August 31, 2026) – The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration today announced the launch of a Commuter Bus route that will connect White Marsh, Golden Ring and Essex to Tradepoint Atlantic. State transportation leaders joined state and local elected officials at the Amazon bus stop at Tradepoint Atlantic to mark the start of service. The new pilot 411T route will provide Baltimore County workers with a faster commute, reducing the travel time from 90 minutes to approximately 30 minutes. Route 411T will operate every day from 5:00 a.m. to 1:20 a.m.
“MDOT is proud to launch new commuter bus service to one of the largest employment centers in the region, helping Marylanders safely and reliably get to work and employers have access to a larger workforce,” said Maryland Department of Transportation Secretary Katie Thomson. “Expanding transit service supports employers, connects more Marylanders to opportunity and drives economic growth in Maryland.”
Over nearly 12 years, Tradepoint Atlantic has created 15,000 full-time jobs with another 5,000 expected when the site is fully complete. MTA has expanded transit service as Tradepoint Atlantic has grown with the 411T route complementing two existing routes. MTA launched LocalLink 63 connecting East Baltimore communities to Sparrows Point in 2018 when Tradepoint Atlantic employed just 800 workers and Express Bus 163 started service in 2021 to connect employees from West Baltimore MARC and downtown Baltimore.
"As a transit agency, we are always looking to how we can best match service to demand,” said Maryland Transit Administrator Tony Bridges. “This pilot route ensures our service reflects the needs of the people and communities we serve by connecting them to the places they want to go.”
Tradepoint Atlantic is home to thousands of jobs across manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, renewable energy, maritime operations and distribution with employers such as Amazon, Home Depot, Perdue, BMW, Volkswagen and Floor & Décor continuing to expand their on-site workforce. The new 411T route operates 12 round trips daily, providing a convenient transportation option for current employees while removing transportation barriers for future workers.
