Maryland Governor Wes Moore Honors IAM International President Bryant for Advancing Workers’ Rights
IAM Union International President Brian Bryant was honored by Maryland Gov. Wes Moore with a Governor’s Citation recognizing his leadership, service and commitment to advancing workers’ rights across the state.
The citation was presented at the Maryland State House in Annapolis during a gathering of labor leaders and union members. Moore recognized the essential contributions IAM Union members make throughout Maryland.
“Our IAM members serve our military installations, our airports – the machinists who take pride in the fact that hands get dirty with this work,” said Moore. “I am unapologetically pro-worker. I am unapologetically pro-union, and this state will always be unapologetically pro-union.”
Under Bryant’s leadership, the IAM Union has helped advance collective bargaining rights for Maryland public library workers, supported Apple workers in Towson who made history by organizing and securing their first union contract, and continued to advocate for IAM members at airports, military installations, and workplaces across the state.
“I am deeply honored and humbled to receive this recognition from Governor Moore,” said Bryant. “This citation belongs to every IAM Union member in Maryland who stands together each day for dignity, fairness, and a stronger voice on the job. I am proud of what we have accomplished alongside Gov. Moore and his administration, and our union looks forward to continuing our work to improve the lives of working families throughout Maryland.”
Moore also highlighted his administration’s work with organized labor to raise Maryland’s minimum wage ahead of schedule, expand collective bargaining rights to thousands of workers and strengthen workplace safety protections.
“None of this would be possible without our union members and without our work together,” said Moore. “You’re not just a workforce. You’re the backbone of our aspirations.”
